Among this edition’s four trim levels (Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum), this edition of the Explorer has two powerful engines to offer, depending on the trim level you go with. A responsive turbocharged 2.3-liter I-4 that churns out 300 horsepower and comes with all trims other than the ST trim. The ST trim, the sportiest in the lineup, has a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, also turbocharged, and offers the strongest towing capabilities, pulling up to 5,000 pounds when fully equipped.
