2025 Ford Explorer

Explorer offers a bold lineup of trims, each with its own distinct personality. The Active trim introduces us with updated headlamps and a reworked grille, along with 18-inch painted alloy wheels and chrome accents. ST-Line sharpens that aesthetic with a gloss-black mesh grille, blacked-out exterior trim, LED fog lamps, and 20-inch alloy wheels. For premium tastes, Platinum delivers refined chrome touches, twin-panel moonroof, 20-inch wheels, and power-folding mirrors. The performance-focused ST adds aggressive lower body styling, a rear liftgate spoiler, and 21-inch Magnetite-Painted aluminum wheels.

Two engines power the 2025 Explorer lineup. The standard 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 punches out 300 HP and 310 lbs.-ft. of torque—responsive and efficient for everyday driving. The ST and Platinum trims get a 3.0L Twin-Turbocharged EcoBoost® V6, putting down 400 HP and 415 lbs.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to an updated 10-speed automatic transmission tuned for smoother transitions and better gear targeting, improving both highway efficiency and acceleration.

Rear-wheel drive is standard, with Ford’s Intelligent 4-wheel drive system available across trims. A re-engineered Terrain Management System™ gives drivers up to seven selectable drive modes, including Trail, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Sport. Properly equipped, the Explorer tows up to 5,000 lbs. Responsive steering and a lower center of gravity compared to other midsize SUVs lend the Explorer a more composed, confident ride. ST variants feature a sport-tuned suspension for enhanced handling and quicker throttle response.

Inside, the 2025 Explorer is refined yet functional. The Ford Digital Experience anchors the dash with a 13.2-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Amazon Alexa, and voice-activated navigation. Ahead of the driver, a customizable 12.3-inch digital cluster delivers real-time data, from speed to fuel economy and navigation cues. Active and ST-Line trims feature black cloth or ActiveX™ seating with red contrast stitching, while the Platinum elevates the cabin with leather-trimmed, micro-perforated seats and ambient lighting. Tri-zone climate control, second-row captain’s chairs, and fold-flat third-row seats enhance passenger comfort and cargo utility. Total cargo capacity reaches up to 87.8 cu ft with the rear seats folded.

Every 2025 Explorer comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist 2.0, a comprehensive safety suite that includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go.
